An emerging dragonfly

It was the end of June one year when, early in the morning, I chanced to see a larva which had crawled up out on my small pond and was just beginning to emerge as a Southern Hawker dragonfly. I grabbed the camera and over the course of about three hours managed to capture almost the entire sequence.
